Organization: East Jerusalem YMCA / YWCA of Palestine - Joint Advocacy Initiative (JAI)

Background:

The Joint Advocacy Initiative (JAI) is a collaborative program between the East Jerusalem YMCA and YWCA of Palestine, dedicated to promoting a just peace in Palestine. One of its prominent initiatives is the Olive Tree Campaign (OTC), which aims to provide solidarity and support to Palestinian farmers through the symbolic act of distributing sponsored olive tree saplings. JAI is seeking a dedicated individual to oversee the OTC and other emerging relevant campaigns, working under the supervision of the JAI Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Implementation and Monitoring:
    • Promote the Olive Tree Campaign among JAI partners, donors, YMCA/YWCA movements, and church-related organizations globally.
    • Manage correspondence with Olive Tree sponsors, addressing inquiries, and sending certificates and acknowledgment letters.
    • Maintain organized records of donors and sponsored fields, coordinating logistics for planting seasons, and ensuring timely sponsor communication.
    • Collaborate with international partners to develop, promote, and manage the campaign in their respective settings.
    • Coordinate delegations and tours to olive tree fields for international participants, facilitating firsthand experiences of the occupation.
    • Monitor local news on olive tree uprooting, maintain records of proposed planting fields, and organize meetings with field extension officers.
      Organize an annual Olive Picking/planting program for international volunteers. 
  • Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Prepare periodic reports for the JAI Manager, including an annual plan and report on the Olive Tree Campaign. 
    • Contribute to promotional material production and assist in advocacy visits and tours related to the OTC.
    • Manage the campaign's budget, donor agreements, and procurement in line with financial procedures.
    • Recruit, train, and coordinate local and international volunteers for land rehabilitation projects and advocacy activities.
    • Liaise with partner organizations, facilitate specialized training, and represent JAI in relevant coordination mechanisms.


Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • Bachelor's n a relevant field such as social sciences, communications, or a related discipline. is required; Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in campaign management, advocacy, or related fields.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of JAI and the YMCA/YWCA movements.
